In my first few days as CD at Touch of Modern, my photo team told me that their compositions were forced to be centered because the UX grids were different from one page to the next, and yet again in emails.

So, each "hero" image had to work at both 2:1 and 3:2.

Not only did this stifle creativity, it was also a colossally inefficient use of studio time and model costs.

So, I worked with Steven Ou, the CTO, to change the grids so that we would only need one aspect ratio across all touch points.

This freed the photographers and stylists to do their best work.

We celebrated with a 3:2 cake, homemade by yours truly.

If you love your creative team, set them free.
Photographers were forced to center their 3:2 compositions because the images would get cropped to 2:1 on some page placements.
